I've always enjoyed Bill Hicks' sense of humor. It's dark yet enlightening. I had no idea the following ever happened though. Back in October of 1993, Bill Hicks appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, however as Dave states in the video to the right he decided not to air the segment and for no real reason. Recently he had Bill's mom on the show and apologized directly to her along with audience for not airing the segment. Whatever it was that led him to do this I have no idea but I'm glad he did.
I couldn't help but get a bit choked up watching these videos. Dave seems really sincere about regretting his decision to remove the routiine. I was a bit shocked also to find out that Bill Hicks really admired Eric Johnson. It's random I know but nonetheless.
The routine is solid as you'll see in the last embedded video. If you've ever listened to Rant in E-Minor you'll find it very familiar. It's true, as David Letterman himself states, for no other reason than his own insecurity of his viewers accptance back in the day, there was no reason for him to remove the segment. You owe it to yourself to watch the related Bill Hicks videos also.
