UPDATE: Watchmen coming to Blu-Ray July 21st

UPDATE: Well it seems as though Sony was spying on me as I wrote this post. According to Kotaku the retail release of the PS3 version for The End is Nigh Episode 1 and 2 will indeed be bundled with the Blu-Ray version of Watchmen. Thank you Sony, thank you immensely.

I'm always surprised at how quickly these things get released for our home viewing pleasure. Watchmen is a day one for me and on Blu-Ray, if P90X won't give me heart attack this surely will. Oh yeah and you guys remember that XBLA and PSN release of The End is Nigh, yeah not too many do. Well it was originally planned to be episodic and it seems we'll be getting the second episode along with the first on disc at retail about the time the movie hit's home release. Maybe they'll do some sort of collector's edition. If so, consider me suckered. The movie is expected to hit retail on July 21st. Maybe I'll get it for a certain someone's birthday. She'd cream her pants.

Tropic Thunder on Blu-Ray

tropic-thunder-poster.jpgI liked Tropic Thunder. I thought it was great in the theater and knew the minute it would come to Blu-Ray I'd pick it up. Robert Downey's character is hysterical. He throws down some of the funniest lines I've ever LMAO'd at. His character is the epitome of method acting. In the movie, he claims he won't break "character until he's done with the DVD Commentary", so Kel, Henry and I took him up on it.

I've never been one to listen to the commentary of my Blu-Ray collection as I've never had any interest in what most actors, directors have to say. After watching Iron Man and loving every minute of it, I've grown fond of Robert Downey Jr. He's right up there with Brad Pitt in my book. True to his word, along with jack Black and Ben Stiller, Robert Downey goes through the whole movie's commentary in character, making a second run through of the entire film, even more hysterical than the first. It's absolutely worth every minute.

If you liked the movie, you will love the commentary. Don't miss out, you will not regret it.

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is finally out.  Sold out in the UK day one as a matter of fact.  You may think watching The Dark Knight in the comfort of your own home in all of it's high definition goodness would be sick enough, however those who don't pay attention to the details will be at a loss.  See, a while back Sony touted Blu-Rays HD Discs as the next generation in home media with features like BD-Live.  So far BD-Live has been lackluster.  There couldn't have been a better choice than The Dark Knight, actually I would have started with Iron Man but then again I'm not a high level exec that calls the shots, for Blu-Ray to finally tear the walls down all Kool-Aid man style and give a big "Oh Yeah".

For awhile BD-Live, for internet connected Blu-Ray players with a 2.0 profile, if you have a PS3 you're golden, have promised the ability to allow you to watch movies with friends who aren't in the same room with you.  The Dark Knight debuts the Live Community Screening feature.  I don't think I need to explain why this is hella rad, everyone has their reasons and they are all legit.  The only thing that's not entirely clear from the press release is whether or not everyone will need a copy of the movie.  My guess is you will since that makes more sense from a crusty-old-white-haired-depends-wearing-rich-man-high-level-exec point of view, but I haven't had a chance to pick up a copy yet so I can't confirm at the moment.

If you happen to have a Playstation Eye hooked up to your PS3, you can also take advantage of the "My WB Commentary" feature which allows you to dress up in all sorts of cosplay and record your own commentary of the movie to share with friends and if you're daring enough, complete strangers.

It's about time these features are taken advantage of.  I don't regret my $600 PS3 purchase for a millisecond.  Anyone pick this up yet?

The Price of Blu-Ray

Yeah, that's what Netflix says.  To be honest, I'm only holding onto my Netflix account till the new Xbox dashboard is released (Nov 19th) and see if the whole streaming thing is worthwhile.  I have to admit, on PC, it blows, granted I've only watched two movies Bonnie and Clyde (Warren Beatty) and parts of 9 1/2 weeks, but I'm holding out since watching movies on my PC isn't the most convenient method of doin things anyway.  If the streaming turns out worthwhile then Netflix, consider your rep with me redeemed if not then go suck on some donkey cock you ball crushing midgets.

UPDATE: I Am Not Iron Man, I Am Penny Less

UPDATE 2: GOT IT!!! Kel rocks my balls!!! Although I can't watch it I'll be HDTV-less for about the next 2 WEEKS!! Standard Def I refuse to go back to you and your..*gasp*..ugliness

UPDATE 1: Not necessarily an update but I read this on Engadget's website and thought it was weird.  Dell is offering Iron Man as a preloaded movie with any PC you purchase.  That's random as all hell although if any movie is gonna start off this trend it may as well be this one.  On the ther hand:  IDIOTS. Original post below.

Iron Man comes out today.  Wait, wait, let me rephrase that. IRON MAN COMES OUT TODAY!!  Wait, sorry one more time.  IRON MAN COMES OUT TODAY ON BLU-RAY!!!!!  It sure does and I don't have a penny in my pocket.  It's not because The Man took it from me or because a bunch of old crusty crackers out in the D.C. area didn't pass a bill that would of raped saved my burger flippin irresponsible ass from buying a house I knew I couldn't afford, but it's cool I had good intentions for me and my 20 fucking kids.

No I'm just pennyless at the moment plain and simple.  Yeah I know there are wars being fought, disease, Barbara Streisand, but should that mean Iron Man can't come into my warm loving house, apt, home.  There's plenty of room in my PS3 right now, so he can come over and kickass in there all he wants.  Hell, if Optimus Prime and the gang have been kicking it in my HD-DVD player for the past year or so, Iron Man is more than welcomed.  So what the hell are you doing sitting down reading this.  IRON MAN GET!!
