E3 2009: Mario protests at E3

I have to admit at first I wasn't really diggin this but I'm glad I kept on watching it as the it ends up being hella funny, unless you're old, wear depends or are my obnoxious-way-to-young-to-live-on-their-own neighbors. Highlight for me is the part where "Petey" realizes he can't climb up a latter with a hammer. ROFLMAO I think is what the hip kids say for that shit was funny bro.

E3 2009: Kojima confirms and amazes with Castlevania: Lord of Shadows

This is what happens when Kojima gets his hands on anything Castlevania. He fucking rocks that shit like there's no tomorrow. The rumor proved to be true. Hideo Kojima confirmed that he indeed will be working in association with Mercury Steam to bring Castlevania: Lord of Shadows to the masses. Knowing how disgustingly disappointing the past 3D Castlevania's have been you might be wary, but keep in mind folks, this is Hideo Kojima we are talking about here. This man sweats gold. Unless is Zone of Enders.

E3 2009: Microsoft delivers On Demand Service

Microsoft must be feeling the squeeze from OnLive, either that or they really want to head the way of digital distribution and quick. Come August Microsoft will start experimenting with an On Demand Service for their titles.

It's not entirely clear if they will be doing this day and date with new releases as it seems, at least from the placeholder titles in the screenshots, that it will focus on previously released titles. Regardless these will be full blown titles for downlaod not just DLC, or XLBA games, full 8GB size content.

What about the games that don't quite run the way they're supposed to? Halo 3, for example, which Bungie has explicitly warned gamers not to install to the hard drive as the game was not designed to be played that way due to technical reasons relating to the streaming of content off of the disc. Well, Microsoft say they are taking that into account and will fix these problems as needed. A nice bullet point many will appreciate is the ability to purchase these games directly with a credit card, no Microsoft Points required. They will be made available directly from the Xbox Live Marketplace and the Web Marketplace. However curiously enough not from Amazon's Xbox Marketplace.

How do you feel about purchasing content without having a physical product to tie the purchase to. I have been wanting to buy both Max Paynes, and Indigo Prophecy off of the Xbox Originals Marketplace for a while now, but I'd rather go to GameStop and pick it up there. I think laziness and dealing with idiotic employees will eventually overcome tho.

E3 2009: Post-Bloggin Sony's E3 Press Conference

Sony has undeniably been the most "hardcore" of the three publishers in terms of press conferences, and not just this year, although this year in particular they brought it in spades. Starting off strong with an amazing single-player demo of Uncharted 2, it goes without saying that Sony done brought it.

As I mentioned before Sony needs to check their gaskets as most leaks and rumors proved to be true. Their ability to make fun of themselves during the PSP Go! announcement with Kaz Hirai saying "We call this new PSP two things, E3's worst kept secret and the PSP GO!" is nothing short of brilliant. I'd actually go out on a limb and say all of the rumors aside from a price drop, let's face it that wasn't gonna happen anyway, or the PS3 Slim proved to be true. Interesting point about the slim rumor though is that after watching the press conference in it's entirety, and noticing every trailer end with the simplified PS3 logo as opposed to the previously full out spelling of Playstation 3, I have no doubt it's coming, however I doubt an official announcement will come any time before this years Tokyo Game Show. I'm basing this only on the connection between the simplified logo, combined with the cease and desist letters Kotaku got from Taiwanese lawyers, and the leaked images of the box art.

Seeing as most of the rumors proved to be true there wasn't much to surprise me aside from actually seeing the trailers or demonstrations to go along with the confirmation. Announcements like Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker obviously justified my need for a new PSP although at $250 I'll pass for now until Metal Gear's official release.

I find it comforting that Sony is lowering the price for developers to develop on the PSP platform as that will undoubtedly spur some smaller indie devs to hopefully bring their games to the platform.

I can't close without mentioning the PS3's motion controller. At a convention where many companies head the route of me-too, Sony joined the ranks by throwing in their version of a motion controller. Regardless of how jaw-droppingly creepy Peter Molyneux's Milo was on Microsoft's Project Natal, Sony's motion controller is a little more up my alley. I like the combination video capture/tracking along with leaving the controller in the person's hand as it also lends to more precision and interactivity. Where it seemed Microsoft and Nintendo mirrored each others statements about pussies wanting to play games but not liking buttons, Sony said fuck that we're ripping shit up and making your shit soaked pants bleed of how fucking awesome we tore your shit, sucka.

All in all I'm fucking stoked for all platforms, Wii not so much. How about you? Now that the three big conferences are over, what are you're thoughts? Konami still has there conference coming up later today, although I doubt they'll show anything we haven't seen yet. KojiPro's take on Castlevania? Fingers crossed.

E3 2009: Post-blogging Nintendo's Press Conference

Nintendo started off with the usual casual gamer this, casual gamer that. Telling the millions who've already bought their hardware how great of a company they are. Yes Nintendo we understand. We also understand you introduced fixing the Wii Mote with Wii Motion Plus and segregating your market yet again however if it works for you shit do it Wii Motion Plus at last year's E3 and it has yet to materialize.

What's the deal with so many "fitness" games. Do lard obeast tubs actually think they'll suddenly become healthy by DDRing on a board or is it that they simply feel good about themselves for accomplishing the tasks these games put forth, that they simply forget about the fact these games do nothing to benefit health. Moving for 30 minutes while eating a Big Mac combo immediately afterwards defeats the purpose. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Satoru Iwata then hit the stage to announce the next "big" thing in Nintendo's 2009 line up, and to no ones amazement, came an anti-climactic announcement of the Vitality Sensor. Yeah if you're old, dying and wearing depends you know what this is, you may even already have one. If you're a video game enthusiast at a video game convention, you give an audible sigh, palm to the forehead and whisper a WTF. Again this is their press conference but I'm passive- aggressive so, same shit different ass. I appreciate the explanation of how people are so scared of jumping into video games because they are pussies Iwata, but that shit won't fly with me. I'm hardcore, beefcake, BEEFCAKE.

Mario games aside, I haven't played a Mario game through to completion since the DS's New Super Mario Bros, which was slick beginning to end, though I seriously question the blue turtle power up, so I'll leave my comments on SMG 2 on deck till then. Finally as an apology for the shit stew that was the Vitality Sensor we get Reggie up on stage to talk some of the good shit. The Conduit gets some sweet 2 minutes of love as does Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, and out of nowhere Team Ninja, yes Ninja Gaiden ass ripping motha fucking Tomonobu Itagaki take shit from no one I wear my sunglasses at night Team Ninja, gets handed the Metroid License to bring it to the masses. Looking good Nintendo. Looking good.

Next Up: Sony, they've got some serious stage work to follow. T - minus 2 minutes. Fuck I'm out.

E3 2009: Could Kojima be doing Castlevania?

I'm fucking pissed as all hell. I had typed out this in depth fucking entry of what I thought about this rumor but the piece of shit developers who make this shit ass snaggle toothed trailer park of fuckin app, Ecto, have no clue how to make an app that doesn't erase an hours worth of work for simply adding a fucking jpeg. Lucky for them I'm on a trial membership otherwise my last email would have included ass rape and shit chunks as an attachment.

I'm too pissed to concetrate so here it is as simple as possible.

Konami may have handed the reigns of Castlevania to Kojima Productions with Castlevania: Lord of Shadows. I'm interested. New Metal Gear Solid for PSP called Peace Walker, unveiled at Sony's E3 event today? Will Kojima sneak up on Jack Tretton?

FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO,FUCK YOU ECTO.

E3 2009: Ubisoft really likes movies, and English

As I sit here watching the Ubisoft press conference I can't help but think of how Microsoft not only nailed their announcements but also put the cherry on top by cutting straight to the chase and showing nothing but gameplay for most if not all of them. Ubisoft seems to be struggling with their english talking alot about what they will be doing without showing much of anything. James Cameron just came on stage for some Terminator, oh wait, Avatar. It sounds kinda interesting. Cameron's Avatar sounds a lot like that Bruce Willis movie where people take control of people who aren't real. Can't think of the name of it at the moment. Hey Ubisoft, good thing you brought Joel McHale to make up for your boring ass press conference.  Even the anticlimactic Assassin's Creed 2 trailer wasn't enough to make up for it.  All the Ubisoft staff seemed pumped and passionate about what though, I have no clue.

E3 2009: Kojima delivers, Metal Gear Solid: Rising on Xbox 360 (not exclusive)

I hate fanboys and I hate elitists, of any kind. I love Metal Gear. Does that make me a fanboy? Of course not. I will purchase any system that allows me to play some Metal Gear, even if that system is Nintendo's Wii. Let's not beat around the bush any longer, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the next installment in the Metal Gear Solid Series, is coming to Xbox 360. Many have considered this to be the biggest bitch slap Microsoft could give Sony especially after last year's Final Fantasy XIII announcement. Notice this folks, there's a reason Microsoft didn't toss around the "exclusive" and gloat much about it. There's a possiblility Kojima will please every one by announcing the game at one event while actually demonstrating the game at the other. Konami's press conference is tomorrow afternoon as well, so I'm sure we'll hear more about it soon.

As far as the story goes, unlike other people I know, I'm absolutely looking forward to this installment. Sure, in Sons of Liberty, Raiden's effeminate ways weren't what you'd expect from a protaganist, but he served his purpose and accomplished it quite well. In Metal Gear Solid 4 he undeniably redeems himself. Tasked with protecting Olga's daughter Sunny from the Patriots and finding the corpse of Big Boss you better believe I'll be anticipating this. The flash of BIg Boss's face on the teaser site only fuels the anticipation. Previous games in the series carried the Tactical Espionage Action subtitle while this one has changed to Lightning Bolt Action. I can't wait to see more of this.
